Je Ngor Sukhumvit 20, Bangkok
This place is supposed to be a popular "seafood" place in Bangkok. It wasn't bad, but to my disappointment, it was more like Chinese food with a Thai influence. This was evident in most of the dishes: the crab, crayfish, bee hoon, etc. The only thing that was really Thai was the papaya salad, which definitely wasn't bad. (The mango sticky rice and lime juice at the end was nice too.) All in all, the food wasn't bad, but it's not something I would crave either, especially after having travelled all the way to Bangkok. I look forward to tomorrow's lunch at the usual spot across from the office.

cept for the papaya salad with the raw cold crab that had the lovely roe, everything else was so-so...
and the fried garlic on top of the yabby-like looking thingys was definitely a Cantonese influence and not thai-style cooking!!
If you're looking for authentic Thai uninfluenced by Chinese, this is the wrong place.
However, Jae Ngor's Kitchen (I go to the one in Bangkok Insurance Building, next to the Sukhothai hotel) is the best Thai-Chinese restaurant I've found in Bangkok.
The steamed fish with lemongrass is flaky, fresh ... flawless.
The pad pak boong fai daeng is exquisitely and painstakingly prepared ... they slice each morning glory stalk the long way ... lightly pan fried to perfect texture, with a tasty but refreshingly un-gloppy bean sauce.
if you're ever going back to Bangkok, do check out this somtum (papaya salad) restaurant called Thai E-Sarn on Soi Ari Rd, off Phaholyonthin Rd 7, near the Ari BTS. They have wonderful authentic thai cuisine ranging from Northern to Eastern Thai traditional food and the best Papaya salad I have eaten in Bangkok. Prices are very reasonable for about 150Baht per pax. Coupled with a relaxing, chill out ambience set in the midst of lush greenery, its guranteed to be one of the best food places there!
Outstanding Chinese seafood with a Thai influence! Private rooms perfect for business meetings, large families, or groups of friends. The specialty Morning Glory dish, had unique presentation and delicious flavor. A must dining experience for vistors to Bangkok!
the best seafood (and cheap too) in bangkok is around the nightclub area.
get to Huai Kwang MRT Station then walk towards the exit to Le Concorde. once you exit facing the main road turn left and go straight, you should pass by a nightclub or two and then you'll reach a seafood place, no air-con. their grilled prawns are sweet and succulent!
