Casa Montaña in Valencia, Spain

Grilled Sardines

As I headed towards this place (69 Carrer de Josep Benlliure, +34-963-672-314), I was craving a beer. But after walking in, I completely changed my mind. Why? Because once you walk in, all you can smell is vermouth...in a good way. And that went well with the other items I got, including those grilled sardines above, a cuttlefish stew called sepia amb ceba, a goat cheese and honey sandwich, and some marinated tuna. The last one in that list was particularly fun given the peppercorns and olive oil, as well as a surprisingly rich and creamy olive oil emulsion called brandade de bacalao that they blowtorched onto a piece of bread. Cool place.
