Hey - cool.
Jin De Lai Zhong Hua La Mian at Boat Quay has a couple of the mainland Chinese dishes that I thought that I had to go all the way out to Geylang for:
Xinjiang skewered meat and
Shaanxi cold noodles. Now, these were not as good as (the now defunct)
Xiao Ping, but the skewers and noodles were spicy enough that next time I might just save myself the effort of going all the way to Geylang by diverting to Boat Quay instead.

Now we can all eat at Boat Quay. Haha. Do they open late?
Are there any other dishes which are good?
Xiao Ping is gone for good?
As far as I know, yes, he has shut down, which really sucks. LDM is probably thus the next best place for those skewers. In the meanwhile, the meat at this Boat Quay place was surprisingly tender and thinly cut, even if it was a bit crude in how the spices got piled on. It's clearly not a dedicated skewer shop either.
I don't know how late these guys are open, but if it's on this touristy Boat Quay stretch, then I'm sure that it pushes beyond typical restaurant hours.
