An Alternative to UA's Omelette

Sauteed chicken with spring onion and egg noodles

I was happy to see that there was a third choice on this morning's United flight beyond the usual omelette and fruit plate. It admittedly didn't sound like anything too exciting ("sauteed chicken with spring onion and egg noodles"), but I was ready to do whatever it took to be able to not eat the omelette again (OK, it was a frittata today).

It didn't look that great when it was brought out to me either, especially with nary a scorch mark on the noodles. But it did taste better than it looked, with decently tender chicken and a sauce that wasn't too intrusive. I actually cleared the plate. I just wonder now what alternative to filet mignon will be offered for lunch.

Skirting the typhoon

BTW, here's a route map showing an interesting roundabout way we took to the connection in HK today. Why counter the adage of the shortest distance between two points being a straight line? Because we were dodging the typhoon.
