Zheng Tanjong Rhu Wanton Noodle Since 1994 (Not 1986!)

Signature Flavor Wanton Noodle Dry

I'm not clear on the backstory, but I guess that there are a lot of stalls around calling themselves Tanjong Rhu Wanton Noodles, with some claiming to have been around since 1986. This stall at United Square, on the other hand, says that they have been around since 1994, and yet the signage features the Chinese character zheng, which from what I can see online, says that the chain has been around since 1986. Huh?

Anyway, it was just your everyday food court wanton noodles. To their credit, those thin noodles were firm and eggy enough that I was happy to wolf that bowl down. But the char siew was a bit tough and dry, while the chili sauce wasn't as exciting as places like Eng's. In that sense, there are plenty of other shops around to choose from.
