Stopping by an Outlet of Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway
This small chain of mee hoon kway stalls from a former Masterchef Singapore finalist commanded a pretty long line at lunch today. It became apparent why that was the case after just one sip of the soup: it was wonderfully smoky, reminding me a little of Kusabi's old kogashi bowl. Everything else was of good quality too, in particular the firm and bouncy shrimp ball, but also the various but tender forms of pork in there as well as the chewy noodles (they even had a pasta machine on site to slice it for your if you preferred proper noodles instead). Thumbs up; I'd like to try the dry version next.
