Hatahata no Himono from Izakaya Himonoya

Hatahata no Himono

We grabbed some of these hatahata sandfish from Himonoya today. They were about the same size as shishamo, but with bigger heads and fins that were still edible, and without roe. They weren't as exciting as I had hoped, nor were most of the other things that we ordered tonight. I'm not sure if it was because if my expectations were warped or if the standards have really gone down, but I have a much better impression of their sister restaurants Shindo and Niningashi. If I come back here, it may only be for the S$35 (US$26) nomihoudai.
