I selected this bowl tonight for several reasons. It was not only exclusive to IPPUDO's Singapore locations, but also because it featured their tonkotsu broth "with hints of smoky depths." It surprised me then to find that it was sweet. Not overwhelmingly sweet, but it was still a little sweet, which torpedoed the bowl for me. And no, I couldn't detect much of a "smoky depth." There was another Singapore exclusive bowl on the menu called the Spicy Black, and it was much better with its bouquet of earthy spices.
