I'm not exactly a breakfast person. So when I saw a big sign at Ya Kun Kaya Toast for "steamed bread," I was curious, if anything simply because I had never heard of it before.
As the name suggests, it was like
kaya toast, but in a bamboo steamer rather than being toasted. In that sense, it probably wasn't any huge surprise that it reminded me of a
baozi in terms of its fluffy and moist texture.
It probably wasn't any huge surprise either that
the butter melted down to the bottom piece of bread. But it also gave it a slight saltiness that went well with that
kaya.
