Blanco Court Prawn Mee, Beach Road
Here's the prawn noodle from Blanco Court (243 Beach Road #01-01, 6396-8464), a spot that was recommended to us as being better than the guy at Adam Road. Having finally tried this one today, I'm inclined to agree...mainly because the soup was less sweet. Actually, I preferred the "dry" version of this more since it allows you to dump all of that chili powder into it. Either way, just keep in mind that these guys are only open from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, so I guess that it's kind of a breakfast thing.
BTW, is there some connection between ngoh hiang and prawn noodle? These guys had somebody selling this deep fried stuff right next door, kinda like the Whitley Road guys. I kinda liked the dark chili sauce here, not to mention those little river shrimp cake things, which were kinda like Vietnamese banh tom, but without the rice paper wrapping.

Hello! I've read ur posts on Vietnam food and I really enjoyed them. I'm thinking of heading to Ho chi minh city for a couple of days. An places you wld recommend to visit and places to dine at?
for best prawn mee, try the one at Pek Kio Market. The stall is the one with the Singapore Good Food sign. But its closed on mondays.
pammieTalking about prawn mee, do try Joo Chiat Prawn Mee located in a coffeeshop at 75 Carpmael Road. Its Good.
Tried the one at adam road as well and i dint like it at all.
I had the same question too when was eating Beach Road Prawn Mee(along East Coast Rd) and the "neighbouring" tenant sells Ngou Hiang...:)
i go to the beach road prawn mee regularly. next time you can try putting chilli powder into the soup as well. tastes amazing. and yes, they are related.. or so i'm told by my mum. they're simply the best in prawn mee.
Blanco court prawnmee is the best i have tried. The soup is flavourful and just right. The dry version is just the best. MUST TRY. The portion is small though. In contrast, i find the Beach Road Prawn Mee(along East Coast Rd)too bland and the soup is too oily. The prawns are not really fresh too. Maybe it's because of the crowd and it results in poor quality control.
