Singapore Airlines' "light meal" (economy class)

20050608(001)

So they serve a "light meal" to Bangkok. OK. As good as SQ is as an airline, their economy class meals still aren't anything great...until today. Billed on the menu as "buttered rice served with chicken stroganoff and vegetables," this was a very pleasant surprise and very rich and creamy. In fact, stroganoff is the last word I would have used to describe this - it was a bit more like a curry. But wow - it was surprisingly tasty for cattle-class food. Too bad the rest of their meals are not as good. In fact, even the "roasted chicken with romaine lettuce and creamy garlic dressing" starter salad had some chicken that tasted like it had been sitting around for a while. So I think that the "stroganoff" was more the exception than the rule. But damn, it was good.

It was perhaps even better than Raffles Class lobster thermidor and seared New Zealand lamb chops. (ha ha)
