Only in California, the fresh ingredients and grilled onions creates a very unique taste. The fries are also made from potatoes that were just freshly sliced, creating a texture that many people don't like (a bit like styrofoam), but I don't mind.
Actually, there are some in Arizona and Nevada too. The last thing I did when I ran screaming from California 11 years ago was stop at one of these places, knowing I'd never see one again.
Ahh, In-N-Out Burger. Stopped at one in Phoenix on the way to San Diego about six weeks ago. Was pleasantly surprised to find one there. Gotta love being able to order "hidden" menu items (get the double-double "wild").
Good substitute for Steak 'n Shake when I'm out in Cali.
IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 6 (AP) — Esther L. Snyder, who with her husband founded the popular West Coast restaurant chain In-N-Out Burger, died on Aug. 4. She was 86.
It's actually "animal style" not "wild". You can get the fries animal style too. Fries topped with melted cheese, grilled onions and special sauce. mmmmm. and a chocolate shake.... *drool*
