An interesting thing outside of the US is the fact that breakfast is usually bundled with the hotel rate. I'm usually not a big fan of buffets either, but this was pretty darned good. They had a great spread of ham, cheese, and baguette, coupled with local northern Thailand snail (coiled) sausages (sai ua), crabmeat soup, boiled rice, and even pad thai. Although the pad thai wasn't great, the overall spread was definitely much better than I was expecting for a hotel buffet breakfast.
