Breakfast at Havelock Road Cooked Food Centre

Yu Sheng

The only time we've ever been to this hawker center has been at night, when pretty much every stall is closed and only the mookata guy operates. So I was kinda curious to see what this place was like in the daytime. I grabbed this yu sheng from Ivan's Porridge at stall number six; it turned out fine. Nothing to complain about, but not as remarkable as Ah Chiang's or Joe's.

Prawn Mee

Actually, the longest line this morning was from Covent Garden Prawn Noodle at stall 24. Maybe it was because I only got the cheap S$3 (US$2.30) version, but this one was more about the noodles than the prawns, the latter of which were shelled and headless. The thin broth was savory but nothing spectacular, and strangely she had no powdered chili here. It wasn't worth the wait, but at least the noodles were better than Hong Yuan.
