Slater's 50/50 in Southern California
That photo isn't exactly doing it much justice, but that was seriously one of the best burgers I've ever had. See, this was from Slater's 50/50, a small chain in Southern California that makes patties of 50% ground beef and 50% ground bacon. Yes, ground bacon. That meant that this thing was not just savory, but also surprisingly smoky.
And as much as it might sound Guy Fieri-like excessive being topped with an egg, cheese, avocado, and mayo, this thing was balanced just right, without being too salty nor too rich. Awesome! I'm now totally torn between these guys and Umami Burger (or even Shake Shack, if it were available on the West Coast). I guess these guys get bonus points for the huge selection of beers that they have on tap.
