This is just a bowl of local beef noodles from some random stall at the Tanglin Mall food court. I knew that it wasn't going to be the same as
Thaksin beef noodle, but somehow as I ate this, I still couldn't help but think about how boring this was compared to Thaksin's.

There is a very traditional Hainanese Beef Noodle Shop tucked in an obscure corner of a very old coffeeshop in Purvis Street.
One of the noddle options is kway teow, and the one they use is closer to Ipoh Hor Fun or the rice noodle used in Pad Thai.
You won't be able to find this version easily in singapore, unlike the dish you just ate which is pretty common.
Try the soup version with the works, instead of the boring all-beef combo. And add a little of the fermented shrimp paste (chinchlok) into the soup. Heavenly!
the one at the purvis street is actually teochew style, not hainanese.
