UA's Quick and Lite Meal

Warm roast beef and Gruyere sandwich

After so many UA meals, it was a relief to see tonight that not only was filet mignon *not* featured on the dinner menu, but also in that they had some "quick and lite meal," which one could choose "in lieu of [their] formal meal presentation" as "a complete service for the lighter appetite." In other words, one could go for one of the two full meals, or one could simply go for a "warm roast beef and Gruyere sandwich." Even though the "saffron vodka poached cod with asparagus leek sauce" choice among the full meals sounded intriguing, I really was getting sick of all these UA dinners (not to mention that prawn with lemon starter), so I figured I'd grab the sandwich instead.

Not a bad choice. While the bread was a tad on the hard side, the taste of the cheese, beef, and mustard came together well, no doubt assisted by some of the grease oozing out of the warm cheese. The fruit bowl on the side kept things light, and the fruit tartlet had a surprising chocolate lining on the inside of the rich tasty crust. While I wouldn't necessarily opt for this on my own, it was a welcome relief for a UA filet mignon-inundated guy like me. Here's to offering more choices on United!
