An interesting thing outside of the US is the fact that breakfast is usually bundled with the hotel rate. I'm usually not a big fan of buffets either, but this was pretty darned good. They had a great spread of ham, cheese, and baguette, coupled with local northern Thailand snail (coiled) sausages (
sai ua), crabmeat soup, boiled rice, and even
pad thai. Although the
pad thai wasn't great, the overall spread was definitely much better than I was expecting for a hotel buffet breakfast.
