NOMAD in Surry Hills, Australia

Kingfish Ceviche

This place (16 Foster Street, 02-9280-3395) came as a recommendation from the team behind Burnt Ends in Singapore, and it's pretty clear why. The fundamentals were similar, with fresh and tasty food paired with solid drinks and very engaging service without any pretentiousness. Yet of course it had its own style. We went for a chef's menu of several items including that kingfish ceviche above, as well as perhaps more memorably, a split pea hummus, a spiced cauliflower, and a plate of zucchini flowers done with a touch of truffle honey without being overpowered by neither sweetness nor truffle. These guys knew what they were doing, and it's easily one of my favorite restaurants around. I'm coming back without a doubt.

The Devonshire in Surry Hills (http://www.thedevonshire.com.au/) is also well worth trying, especially their Friday lunch menu.
