OK, maybe this wasn't my first plate of this stuff. After all, it was basically local curry vegetables over rice cakes - all very familiar local flavors. But it was my first time consciously ordering this as far as I can remember. See, there wasn't much to pick from for breakfast today, so when the guy said he was selling lontong, I was curious since I'd never heard of that word before. It was only after I looked it up afterwards did I realize that lontong was basically the same as ketupat but done inside a banana leaf instead of a coconut leaf.
