Restaurant Ember, Hotel 1929, Singapore

Butternut squash veloute with roasted king prawnsHotel 1929 is one of those cozy boutique hotels that has been springing up around Singapore lately, complete with a little restaurant that has apparently been generating some buzz (50 Keong Saik Road, 6347-1928). They ran a five-course set menu for Christmas Eve tonight, with each item bearing rather ridiculously long names (we half-jokingly asked for an English menu afterwards). But despite this, the decor wasn't too pretentious, and I ended up really liking each of the dishes, all of which were fresh, well-assembled, and delicate, if rather small in size.

Yeah, that was worthwhile. I guess that is another one of those fine dining establishments where the food fortunately tastes good too.
