Rialto Italian Cuisine, Killiney Road

Buttered Samprieto

These guys used to have a stall at the Amara Hotel's food court, which I used to hit up once in a while. I had never been to the original location at 117A Killiney Road (6738-4750, on the second floor above those hawkers on the corner) until tonight though. It turned out to be a cozy little place with a very friendly and efficient staff.

Spaghetti Aglio Olio

The food, just as with the one at the Amara, wasn't bad: the dory filet came hot off the pan with a respectable caper sauce and mashed potatoes. The panna cotta with a strawberry topping also went down quicky. All the same, it wasn't great either. The aglio olio pasta went a bit overboard with the garlic and chili, and the tuna in the "tuna pasta" suspiciously seemed like it came from a can(!). The portions were also a bit small.

Well, in the end, it was acceptable, but barely. And for the prices paid here, I'd rather go to Cantina (or pay less and get those affordable Amici lunches). If the lower-cost food court version of Rialto were still around, that might be better too.
