Shinn Unkai, International Plaza
The chashu ramen here (10 Anson Road #02-33/37, 6221-7575) was seriously the most spartan bowl of ramen that I've ever had in my life. Consisting of nothing but noodles, chashu, and scallions, this bowl lacked everything else that one would come to expect from a bowl of ramen; no bamboo shoots, no sesame seeds, no bean sprouts, etc. And the chasyu was sliced strangely thick with absolutely no fat on it.
Well, it didn't taste as bad as it sounds. I wolfed it down pretty quickly nonetheless, and it still had a decent taste. But I have to confess that I would much rather have a bowl with a layer of oil or a stick of butter floating on top. It's certainly less healthy, but oh is it tastier.
