It's my personal favourite. It's either 3 or 4 dollars. But when you order the 4 dollar bowl, you have the option of extra ingredients of noodles. I always go for the extra ingredients. The mee pok noodle is sold out by about 12 in the afternoon most days. If you go during lunch hour or during the weekends, be prepared to wait. He's off ever Wednesday and open till 4 all other days.
He's in the only coffee shop in that block and he's the only one selling Bak chor mee. His wife sells chwee kweh next to him.
I see a lot of guys order chwee kweh to start while waiting for their noodles. And, on a few occasions, I've seen guys having one bowl of the dry version and one with soup waiting at the the table.
They get my vote definitely.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12716084.post-47058683756365214542007-07-05T05:08:00.000+08:002007-07-05T05:08:00.000+08:00I, too think it's the vinegar .. and the salted fi...I, too think it's the vinegar .. and the salted fish.. ;)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12716084.post-20185729469879126702007-07-03T21:02:00.000+08:002007-07-03T21:02:00.000+08:00gee, there is many bowls of bcm u consumed over th...gee, there is many bowls of bcm u consumed over the weekend.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12716084.post-79146010216080893302007-07-02T23:58:00.000+08:002007-07-02T23:58:00.000+08:00i've known this for some time already, but i must ...i've known this for some time already, but i must just say it here for the first time, that you're a man after my own heart. i haven't yet eaten a bak chor mee here to rival Tai Wah's, which I've eaten for 10 over years.

I personally think Tai Wah's killer touch is its vinegar, strong and full-bodied, unlike the limp, watered down nonsense that other vendors use. In fact, my yardstick for great bak chor mee is its combi of noodles and gravy; if I can happily shovel in just the noodles with the gravy, that's freaking IT! And so far, island-wide, Tai Wah's the only one to do that to me.Dawn Sinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01605822776684875370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12716084.post-31174055094444609292007-07-02T16:48:00.000+08:002007-07-02T16:48:00.000+08:00also, tai wah uses some sort of opaque noodles wit...also, tai wah uses some sort of opaque noodles with a texture different from the semi-transparent noodles more commonly used in other places.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12716084.post-60045406574091274392007-07-02T15:01:00.000+08:002007-07-02T15:01:00.000+08:00Gah. When it was located at Marina Square and I used to work at Suntec City, I would cajole my colleagues to head there for lunch at 11.30am. Yes, 11.30am just so we could at least try and avoid the queues.

I wanted to lick my computer screen when I saw that picture of that yummy bak chor mee.

Must. eat. Tai.
