A Sampling of Stalls at Kafe Ping Hooi in Penang

Clockwise from top right: tiger char koay teow, lor mee, Hokkien prawn mee, and some herbal chicken soup

We went on a walk around George Town this morning, stopping at this collection of stalls (179 Lebuh Carnarvon) in part because Google Maps mentioned that there was a char koay teow place that was open. And that was probably the best of the four item above, especially since they gave a duck egg option with it, not to mention the super fresh (and big) (and shelled) shrimp that came with it. Speaking of shrimp, the prawn mee was probably my next favorite one, all helped by those little shrimp that they topped it with. The other two were fine, with one being a crisp and herbal broth, while the lor mee was lighter than its dark color suggested. But the "Tiger Char Koay Teow" stall (+60-16-458-0926) was still my favorite.
