Nabe Seizan at Japan Food Town, Singapore

Wagyu Mabushi

If you're getting tired of all of these Japan Food Town posts, please bear with me. At this rate, I should be done with nearly all of them within about a week's time.

Today's selection was Nabe Seizan (435 Orchard Road #04-44, 6262-3259), a nabemono-focused offshoot of a two Michelin-starred kaiseki restaurant in Japan. But for lunch today, they did this wagyu mabushi, or a hitsumabushi but featuring beef instead. The ingredients and attention to detail were certainly befitting of a kitchen with Michelin lineage.

Alas, that came at a whopping price of S$38 (US$28), and for a pretty small portion at that. Sure, it's cheap for a Michelin-starred chef, but way too expensive for me to eat at regularly.

Was the beef tender? It seems really lean.
