Mercado Hidalgo in Tijuana, Mexico

Dried Shrimp

Time to hit the local market! This one had the usual selections of dried chilies, fresh vegetables, and chicharrones. But it was also interesting to see a number of shops selling cheese, cooking vessels, and even piƱatas. One thing I'd never seen until today is these dried shrimp. Mind you, these aren't like the little ones used in Chinese cuisine, but rather full-sized shrimp. I should come back here; there are tons of restaurants both inside and along the nearby streets.
