Madam Kwan's, Kuala Lumpur

Nasi Lemak

This has become quite a popular place (Suria KLCC Level 4 #420, 03-20262297, with two other locations around KL too). What for, might you ask? One look at the signboard will tell you: "Cafe - Cuisine - Nasi Lemak." They do serve a full spread of various noodle dishes and the like, but what these guys are really known for is the nasi lemak. It's not quite your standard serving with the usual fried chicken and ikan bilis: these guys provide some tender chicken stewed in a rich coconut gravy that pairs well with the delicate yet tasty rice. I didn't even bother with those pickles on the side.

I'm not too sure how the rest of the food fares here though; I usually just get this. Admittedly, the luster has faded a bit for me after having eaten it a number of times now, but it is a unique thing that I really liked the first time I had it.

Hope you won't kill me, this is a long list:

Manhattan Fish Market: The quality is much better than in Singapore.

Little Penang Kafe at KLCC has creamy otak and do ask them to heat up the soup if you like the noodles piping hot.

Madam Kwan rocks! Maybe next time you could try the variety of tze char like dishes they have on the menu.

If you are in Mid Valley, you could check out Picoolo Mondo just beside Madam Kwan's. It's pretty quiet unlike the Sungei Wang branch (maybe everyone's gone to Madam Kwan's!), the pizzas are way better than California Pizza kitchen.

The cakes at the coffee bean and tea leaf here are much bigger and yummier!

Laksa shack is all gross cold noodle soups, avoid at all costs!

Ooh! There's a Chilli's at KLCC near the cinema.

Lastly, Sri Nirwana Maju at Bangsar for banana leaf curry rice.

Hey guys,

Thanks for those offers and compliments. I'll respectfully decline at this time (and I've deleted your comments here so that you don't get spammed), but thanks again for the consideration. Please do let me know if you have any good food tips though!
