Milk Chocolate Nectar from Chocz

Milk Chocolate Nectar

This was a bit of a novelty, if not a total gimmick. This local chocolate chain store offers what they call Nectar...not as in fruit nectar, but as in ambrosia. The idea is that you throw some chocolate pieces into this warm milk heated by a tea light, and stir using the provided spoon straw. After it melts and mixes, drink through that metal straw.

While interesting, this became a bit of an annoyance after a while, especially since this spoon straw was not the plastic thing one gets at 7-Eleven with a Slurpee, but rather a metal (read: heat conducting) device that pretty much scalded your fingers and tongue. And because it was so hot, you were forced to sip it very slowly, meaning that it took a while to go through.

It tasted fine, but I would have rather had them mix it all at once behind the counter before bringing it out (and saving some of my taste buds in the process). Well, I suppose it was entertaining, and perhaps all that they were trying to achieve here.

Yees! I thought I was the only one who was unable to stand the heat from the metal "straw".

Sorry for your burned mouth.

Actually there is a warning in the menu that say's: "Caution: Extinguish the flame if the drink becomes to hot".
For thoes who don't appreciate to go trough the ceremony of doing their own chocolate drink, we have a wide variety of pre-made hot or iced chocolate drinks.

Better luck next time !

Hi, I thought that Max Brenner's chocolate tasted better. Chocz has a strange aftertaste, it doesn't seem to quite blend in. Try the chocolate on its own, you'll see what I mean.
